Practice Notebook
Within my private studio, I use a practice notebook that I created (below). It includes a "practice contract," a "practice checklist," and space to create a practice guide each week.
It is designed to be flexible and meet the needs of a wide variety of students. For my youngest students, I fill in the practice guide for them. With my older students, I help them transition towards more independent practicing and they help me create this each week. I can alo be very specific with what to practice by listing how many repetions or minutes they should do each day and for each item. Students can check off which items they practiced each day. The muscial staves can be used by me to make notes, or by students for composition assignments or note identification. There is also a space entitled "My Thoughts" where students can write questions they encounter throughout the week.
These notebooks have been a huge success among my students and their parents, making their practice time more efficient and routine.
