Emily Hornbake

While teaching at the Fairview Violin Project, I introduced a hip-hop track in my first grade small group class as a fun way to practice open string rhythms. This helped students keep a steady beat, and they had fun playing with music that was familiar and that they heard outside of school. This activity was adapted for large group classes and even played on the concert. Below, enjoy a video of me leading 2nd graders in our hip-hop warm-up!
