While student teaching at North Central High School, the freshman orchestra was playing a piece in E minor called Aurora Borealis, by Michael Hopkins. They had not done any minor scales yet since beginning orchestra, and I took advantage of this opportunity to teach them what a minor scale is and how to play it. My goal was to teach this conceptually so that they could repeat the same process with a different key in the future. Below are the worksheets I created for each instrument.
